- Where do you get your ideas for stories?
- Sometimes I wake up from a dream, and I've already got the entire story figured out. My subconscious has decided to gift me with a 'Get Out of Jail Free' card. Well, maybe that happened once. Mostly, I find inspiration in nature, in friends, and in life; often I find inspiration in solitude.
- Who is your favorite author and why?
- It’s so hard to choose just one. Mary Shelley—because she was so ahead of her time, tying dark themes to emotional issues. And I have to mention Ray Bradbury, who is my hero for the way he tells a fantastic story with such conviction that it simply must be true!
- I've got an idea for a novel, do you want to write it for me?
- The best person to write that story is you. Not myself, or anyone else for that matter could tell it as well as you. Join a writers' group, and start writing it now!
- Can I send you a couple chapters of a book I'm writing?
- I'm so sorry, but I can't accept or read unpublished manuscripts. Those who have been in the business much longer than I caution me that I should never, ever read unsolicited materials, story ideas, etc. Again, if you find a good writer's group, they often will read and critique your writing for you. Any unsolicited materials sent to me will go to my manager who will delete them without forwarding. Sorry.
